One of those songs was “You Should See The Other Guy,” which was released as a single in February. It has been played on Spotify more than 3,000 times. Beam said the song came about when his producer called him to ask if he had heard the song “Gentle On My Mind” by Glen Campbell. His producer had the idea to write a song about the character from that song after about 10 years had elapsed. “We played it a while live before we brought it to the studio, just to kind of tweak some things. It really hit home on the live shows,” he said.

“The Beam In Me” is currently the most popular song song Beam has on Spotify with over 10,000 streams. He described it as a song about drinking, fighting and other stuff. He said it is a fun one to play live. “I’ve got a Budweiser sponsorship right now and I’m looking to add Jim Beam to that too,” he said.

Beam said it was hard to pick a favorite song off the album. He said one of those tracks was a song that had been pitched to Don Williams, but Williams passed away before he could record the song.

Beam said he had been working as a full-time musician for less than two years when the COVID-19 pandemic caused musicians nationwide to postpone or cancel their live shows. “I really had no aspirations of being a full-time musician when I was a game warden working for the state,” he said. Beam also said that he had a lot of awesome shows lined up for 2020. He spent the year hunting turkeys. He said he did write a couple of great songs and played some backyard and tailgate-type shows.

When Beam first quit his day job to do music, his plan was to go by Beam. “Even today, that’s what everybody calls me. They have always called me that from the time that I was a kid to now. A lot of people didn’t even know my first name until I started going by Andrew Beam,” he said.

As it turned out, there was a rapper named Beam. “It would have been nice if his 170,000 monthly listeners had clicked on it and listened to it for 30 seconds, but they didn’t,” he said. When those users clicked on one of his songs, it put Beam’s music under their similar interests. “…They clicked off of it because obviously you hear my twang and that’s not their genre of choice, he said. All of his music is now listed under Andrew Beam.
