CMA Fest: Q&A With Lacy Wolfe

Where and when are you playing during CMA Music Fest?
During CMA Fest, I am playing at Hooters, 2nd floor on June 6 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., June 9 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., and I’ll be at 404 Bar and Grill for writer’s rounds on June 7 at 7 p.m.

When did you start singing?I started singing when I was about 4 years old. My mama always sang, and my grandpa managed her career. I have always loved and will always love Country music! That’s where my heart is!

Who are your musical influences?
I have always loved Martina McBride! Other than Martina, I’d have to say my most significant, musical influences would be the classics. Minnie Pearl really taught me how to entertain! Haha! I still have all of her comedy memorized! I have always loved Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Connie Smith, Hank Sr., Brenda Lee, Tammy Wynette and so many more. That’s only naming a few!

What is your favorite concert you have attended? What made it memorable?
My most favorite concert, that I’ve ever attended, would be a Pat Green concert. I remember hearing real, Texas country for the first time and loving it! What made it most memorable, was when he sat down, started talking to his audience, and he was just himself. I have such big goals, but I always want to remain simply myself.

What is your favorite place to perform? What do you like about it? My favorite place to perform would have to be at the local opries! I love them! I love the crowd and musicians, that still appreciate the classics. Plus, we can kind of cut up together. That’s always fun! Music is fun

Other than artists, who has been influential in your decision to become a singer? My mama has a gorgeous voice, and my grandparents pushed me so hard! I’d have to say that they have been my biggest influences and the reasons that I have pressed on! My grandpa’s last trip to Nashville, was when I sang in the chorale at the Ryman! He was so excited! He bought himself a hat, at the Grand Ole Opry, and he wore it everywhere! That is just one instance, that I’ve been blessed through music. Those are memories that I will always hold near to my heart.

What was the first song you ever wrote?
The first song that I ever wrote would probably be, “When Daddy Cried.” We actually released it to radio, and it did well!

What is your favorite original song? What was the inspiration behind it? My favorite, original song would be a song, that I wrote, called, “Let ‘Em Talk.” I actually just recorded it not long ago. It’s my story…or..some of it. I think we all find ourselves in a situation, at some point, where we have things we have to do, and the only option, we have, is to keep walking, and let the nay Sayers say what they must. A few years later, we can write a song, to tell them how we feel. Haha!

Where can people listen to your music before CMA Music Fest?
Everyone can find my music on YouTube, or my Facebook page. Lacy Wolfe music, or even my personal Facebook page! Stop by! Say, “Hi!” I’d love to meet you!!!
