Live Music Spotlight: Dustin Herring

I went to The Barrel in Springboro, Ohio to see Nashville-based artist Allie Colleen perform last night. Dustin Herring, who is also a Nashville-based artist, opened the show and set the tone for the entire evening of music, which also included Allie Colleen and regional duo 9Eight Central.

Herring opened his show with an original song called “These Beers Ain’t Gonna Drink Themselves.” He also played other originals including “Houston” and “This Calls For A Drink.”

He told the crowd that he loved 90s country and he played songs from some of the biggest artists from that decade, including Rhett Akins and Tracy Lawrence. Herring took some requests during his set.

In addition to being a good singer, he has a good personality. He made some jokes and interacted with the audience while he was on stage. All of the performers during the show understood there is more to a good performance that simply getting on stage and singing some songs. All three acts that performed at The Barrel last night knew how to entertain their audience.

I liked that Herring didn’t leave after his show was over. Instead, he stayed around and watched Allie Colleen play. I love to see artists who respect and support each other.
