Review – Garth Brooks – FUN

Garth Brooks’ FUN album was supposed to be released earlier this year, but it was postponed. I am glad that Garth has released this album now. This is the kind of record that can make people happy. There are also some positive messages on this album. FUN was released on Nov. 20, 2020.

Here are my thoughts on each track on FUN:

The Road I Am On: This song is Garth showing his gratitude for his fans and his amazing life. It’s a great positive song and a good way to kick off an album.

That’s What Cowboys Do: Garth has been know to record a few cowboy songs in his career. I like them. This one tells a story and has a good hook.

All Day Long: This song has already been released as a single from FUN. This is an up-tempo honky tonk song. I can’t listen to this song and not smile. It’s not possible.

Shallow: I love Garth’s version of Shallow so much. This is a duet with Trisha Yearwood. I remember watching them perform this song during a livestream during the pandemic. People loved it and I am so glad that it is finally on an album.

Dive Bar: This is another fun honky tonk song. Garth does these so well. This is a duet with Blake Shelton and I think their voices compliment each other well. I was surprised how similar they sound on this song.

Amen: If the title makes you think this is a religious song, you would be wrong. The backup singers do sound like a choir. This is another fun song that has a more bluesy sound than some of the other songs on the records. There are some horns on this song!

The Courage To Love: Songs this this are probably one of the reasons I love Garth’s music so much. There is so much lyrical brilliance in these words. I love that Garth uses his platform to send positive messages like this. There is a great lesson is this song.

I Can Be Me With You: This is a great love song. It shows thanks and gratitude to the one person who gets you. I know a lot of people will relate to this one!

Message In A Bottle: This is another good song with a sound that sets it apart. I think I can hear some classic rock influences on this one. This song has a chorus that is likely to stay stuck in your head.

Stronger Than Me: I love this song so much. I remember seeing Garth sing this one to Trisha during an awards show. This song says what many men would like to tell their girlfriend/wives, but sometimes can’t find the words. This would be a great wedding song.

(A Hard Way To Make An) Easy Livin: This is a fun song and there’s not a lot of songs like this one out there these days. I loved hearing some fiddle on this song. There’s a great piano part too.

Where The Cross Don’t Burn: This is a duet with Charlie Pride. This is another example of Garth sending a positive message and one we need in our nation right now. It’s a great story song that talks about racism and Jesus without being preaching. Well written!!

Party Gras (The Mardi Gras Song): This is another fun song. I love the Cajun flavor on this song. I am really impressed how many different sounds Garth has included on this album. This is a party song, plain and simple. I want to head to New Orleans now.

(Sometimes You’ve Got To Die To) Live Again: I have heard this one before and it is a touching ballad with a positive message. I have heard that Garth makes his favorite song on an album the last track. I understand why he feels that way. Love his falsetto too!
