Review: LOCASH – Brothers

I have been a fan of LOCASH since they were the LoCash Cowboys. I had the opportunity to attend one of their their club breakfasts years ago and I was immediately impressed by their music.

I was excited to see the had new music coming. Their latest album is called Brothers and it was released on March 29. It has 11 tracks, featuring songs written by some great writers.

I know both members of LOCASH, Preston Brust and Chris Lucas, are talented songwriters. They co-wrote three songs on the album. Other writers who contributed include Rhett Akins (five songs) and Florida Georgia Line’s Tyler Hubbard (three songs).

Even before listening to the Brothers album, I could tell that it would have an upbeat, feel-good vibe with songs like “Summer In a Truck,” “It’s Only Midnight,” Feels Like A Good Time” and “Cold Beer Kinda Night.”

I wasn’t wrong. It’s an uptempo album and there are some party songs on the album. That doesn’t mean there’s no substance on this record. The title track, Brothers, is about people being there for one another. You don’t necessarily have to be related by blood to be brothers.

Then, “Beers To Catch Up On” is about reconnecting with an on old friend. There’s a couple love songs. “Kissing A Girl” is one of the slower songs on the album and it’s a great song. I could see it being used for weddings. “How Much Time You Got” is a realistic love song.

“God Thing” is a faith-based song that comes most exactly halfway through the album. It’s a great song that credits God for the good things that happen in his life.
