Sheri Rowe released “Last Time” last month and it shows a different side of her. She said anyone who knows her music knows her sentimental love songs with a strong message.
“Last Time” tells the fictional story of a girl who steps out and ends up having an adventure. Both verses tell a different story. Rowe said the cover art for the single features three pictures. The first two pictures represent the two verses and the third represents an unwritten third verse. She said she likes to imagine the woman in the song meets a great guy and spontaneously gets married.
“I love to laugh. I love to joke around and love to have fun,” Rowe said. owe said she wanted to show her personality. She said that some of her fans haven’t seen that side of her.
Rowe said she’s hoping to release even more music later this year. “We had a few roadblocks, but that never stopped us from writing,” she said. One of the songs that may be coming soon is a song about her father who passed away.
Rowe has had the opportunity to open for some legendary and iconic artists who have inspired her. She said Wynonna told her that girls have to stick together and told her not to let anyone steal her joy.
“I’ve learned a lot from these artists. Number 1, have integrity and care about the people around you,” Rowe said. She added that the common thread is they didn’t stop.
Rowe had the opportunity to perform at a Celebrity Fight Night fundraiser for Parkinson’s research. The lineup also included other artists including Barry Manilow. She said she had an actor come up to her that night and tell her that her song moved him. “That night in all taught me that people genuinely want to hear your message,” she said.
Rowe said she loves connecting with her fans and she runs her own social media. “A lot of young girls message me,” she said. She knows that social media gives her a platform and she takes her ability to respond to those young women very seriously. She leans a lot on her faith. “My faith is a big part of who I am. I will let them know I am praying for them,” Rowe said, adding that she tries to point them to either their parents or another adult. She said she tells them not to compromise. She also wants them to recognize their worth.
“I feel like God has given me this amazing blessing,” Rowe said, adding that music is so emotional whether it’s deep and heavy or lighthearted and fun.
