Thanksgiving Q&A With Paige King Johnson

What is your current single and/or album? “Just Like You”.

What was a typical Thanksgiving meal look like for your family? Complete with turkey, ham, mashed potatoes & gravy, sweet potato casserole, collards, corn, deviled eggs, green beans, cranberry sauce & desserts galore!

What were your Thanksgiving traditions when you were younger? Since I was a little girl, Thanksgiving has been spent gathering in my grandparents very small country house with my family. We serve the food family style and just sit around in the kitchen catching up while eating.

How has your Thanksgiving celebration changed since you have became an adult? Thankfully enough, the same traditions have stayed in place my whole life. I don’t know what I’ll do once things do start changing and I don’t get that sweet time with my family like always.

How will COVID-19 impact your Thanksgiving celebration this year? Sadly, with COVID looming over us this year and my grandparents being in the susceptible group of people, this Thanksgiving will be the first in my life that isn’t spent with them. We will definitely be Facetiming them to spend some time with them, but I’m really gonna miss my grandma’s gravy and pecan pie.

What is your favorite Thanksgiving Day memory? Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday of the year! I love food and I love spending time with my family, so it easily comes in at the top of the list for me. For me, Thanksgiving holds all the sentimentality of Christmas without the stress of decorating and buying gifts. Each Thanksgiving we gather around the TV to watch the Macy’s Day Parade while running in and out of the kitchen to check on whatever is boiling over at the moment.

What are you most thankful for this year? I’m most definitely the most thankful for me and my family’s health this year and having the option to be able to gather with each other (even if we chose not to).
