Felix Snow and Chelsea Todd released an album earlier this month as country-pop duo 17 Memphis. The new album is called “17 Memphis Forever” and contains 12 songs and two bonus tracks.
Neither Snow nor Todd are new to the music business. Todd, who is from Texas, is formerly part of the pop group TYSM and Snow is an award-winning platinum producer. His most recent work includes the multi-platinum hit “Gold,” which was recordedby Kiiara. Snow has also written and produced for artists such as Young Thug and Katy Perry. Snow, who is originally from Connecticut, has recorded songs with TYSM.
Snow said two of his influences are the Grateful Dead and Merle Haggard. Todd said she is influenced by Fleetwood Mac from a lyrical standpoint. “I’ve been listening to Dolly Parton a lot lately and the Beatles, so they are the most recently played in my iTunes,” she said.
Todd said one of her favorite songs on the new album is “Sleep,” which is one of the only ballads on the record. “That song means a lot to us,” she said, adding that it was the first song we ever wrote as 17 Memphis. She said they were doing a cross-country road trip and we stayed in Memphis. They went out on Beale Street and wrote and recorded the song in the hotel room after coming back to the hotel, adding they listened to the song all day long the next day. “Basically, that song is the reason why we started the band,” Todd said. “We built a whole project around it. We ended up moving to Nashville, so that song triggered everything. It’s a super important song to us.”
Todd said another of her favorite songs on the album is called “R U My Lover,” which she feels like it’s such a standout song in terms of being super crossed over. ” It’s got that timeless Fleetwood Mac feeling, which I love,” she said.
Snow said his favorites are probably “R U My Lover” and “Strangers,” although he said all of the songs are his favorite.
Todd said they toured last year with Logan Mize and Luke Pell She said that they are playing Nashville right now. They recently played Whiskey Jam and their album release party was head at the Analog theater on Aug. 14. They will be playing another show at the Analog on Sept. 4.
Snow said “R U My Lover” is the fan favorite when they perform live.
