Garth Brooks Opens “Sound Check” Event To University Of Florida Students For Free

I remember being a poor college student. Apparently, Garth Brooks remembers that feeling, too. He’s doing something really cool for students at the University of Florida ahead of his April 20 show in Gainesville.

Garth tweeted this picture on Monday from backstage at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, where he and Trisha Yearwood performed at an event to celebrate Loretta Lynn’s birthday. Yearwood is not scheduled to perform at the “Sound Check” event on April 19.

On April 19, Brooks is going to be opening up an exclusive “Sound Check” event. I think this is extra cool because artists typically don’t even sell tickets to their soundcheck before a concert. This is an unique opportunity and gives students a chance to see Brooks perform live even if they can’t afford to buy a ticket to the concert.

In addition, faculty and staff will also have a chance to buy specially-priced tickets to the “Sound Check” event. Brooks is even letting the faculty and staff members bring one guest for the same ticket price. All of the money raised with go toward the University of Florida for the Machen Florida Opportunity Scholars program, which is a scholarship and support program for low-income students who are first in their family to attend college.

Tickets purchased for the will not be held at will call. Instead, faculty and staff will receive an e-mail where they can purchase sound check tickets online. They will be able to print out a ticket to take to the event.

Students can register for their free ticket by visiting  https://www.uaa.ufl.edu/studentreg. According to the site, only students at the University of Florida who are taking at least one credit hour are eligible for the free ticket. When the registration closes, the tickets will be loaded onto student accounts and students will have to access their ticket from their mobile device.

Those attending the “Sound Check” event will be able to park in the Stephen C. O’Connell Center lot . Parking restrictions at all surrounding lots will lifted after 3:30 p.m.
