What is your current single and/or album? My latest single, Country Folk is available now! You can also check out my self-titled album, Barefoot Joe.

What does a typical Thanksgiving meal look like for your family? Turkey, mash potatoes, gravy, stuffing, mac & cheese, green bean casserole, rolls, yams, cranberry sauce, pies…seconds and thirds!

What were your Thanksgiving traditions when you were younger? When I was younger, Thanksgiving consisted of only my parents and myself. My mom is Korean and a fantastic cook, so our dinner table was a mix of traditional Thanksgiving dishes (turkey, mash potatoes, gravy, etc.) and Korean side-dishes.

How has your Thanksgiving celebration changed since you have become an adult? My parents moved to South Carolina a few years ago, so I typically spend Thanksgiving with my wife’s family in Virginia. As a child, Thanksgivings consisted of just me and my parents, whereas, today, Thanksgivings at the in-laws can easily host 40-50 people. My father-in-law didn’t have a close family dynamic when he grew up, so he makes a point of bringing the family together for the holidays every year.

What is your favorite Thanksgiving Day memory? Growing up, I did not have contact with my biological father. After 20 years, he contacted me out of the blue, and I took my family to spend Thanksgiving with him in Arkansas. It was both a surreal experience and one that I’ll cherish forever. I was able to fill in a lot of gaps in my childhood, better understand myself, and my family history. It was also a great road-trip for my immediate family, as we stopped by Gatlinburg, Tennessee on the way home to enjoy a couple days in the mountains.

What are you most thankful for this year? My wife and kids.
