Family Trio Kopper & Kash Are “Fun-Loving, God-Fearing People”

Ava and Mia Pennycoff have been listening to their dad sing literally all of their lives.   Jeff recalled that the first things he did when his children were born was thank God, pray a blessing over them, and sing to them.  These days Jeff, Ava, and Mia Pennycoff sing together on stage as Kopper And Kash.

Jeff said they release at least two songs per year and one of those releases is a Christmas song.  Kopper And Kash have most recently released a cover of Merle Haggard’s “If We Make It Through December”.

It was already a song that all three of them knew very well.   Jeff had been singing it for years.  “I cut my teeth on Merle Haggard,” he said.   In addition to being a Haggard song and a timeless classic, it also has a meaningful message.   “We see firsthand how people are hurting,” Jeff said, adding that they work with a food bank.  He said they sometimes pray with the people they meet.

Jeff, who currently pastors a church with his wife, said they aren’t in the music business to try to get famous.  He describes their family as “fun-loving, God-fearing people” who like to talk and sing about Jesus.

That’s why they will never release any songs that contain suggestive or explicit lyrics or go against what they believe.  In a way, their trio started in the church because that’s where Ava and Mia did a lot of singing. “Mia and I started singing on the worship team at our church,” Ava said.  Mia said that it grew into something much more over the years.

While Kopper And Kash’s songs aren’t classified as Christian music, there is a definite faith-based element. Jeff said.  Earlier this year,  they released a cover of the Ralph Stanley-penned “Hallelujah I’m Ready,” which was released by Ricky Skaggs in 1982.

In addition to those two songs, Kopper And Kash has released songs written by great songwriters such as Clay Mills, Aaron Goodvin, Abby Anderson, Josh Kerr, and Mark Irwin.

Kopper And Kash released four songs in 2023:   “Bars and Churches,” “True Believer,” “Dance Sing Live And Love,” and “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen.”  In 2022, they released “The Best I Can” and “Joyride.”    To date, “The Best I Can” is their most streamed song on Spotify.
