Movie Review: The Forge

As a fan of faith-based films, I watch every Kendrick Brothers movie that is released. The have long-established their excellence in Christian films with movies such as “Fireproof,” “Courageous,” “War Room,” and “Overcomer”. Not only do they carry a great message of faith that I enjoy, these movies are well-written, well-acted, and very inspiring.

That’s the case with their latest film, “The Forge,” which is now available for streaming. The DVD isn’t due until December 3. I can’t honestly remember the last time I bought a DVD. I buy and rent all my movies digitally. This was a film that I was excited to see and it certainly did not disappoint.

If you watch “The Forge” and think some of the characters seem familiar, there’s a reason for that. The movie is a spin-off of “War Room,” which was released in 2015. Don’t expect this movie to be about marriage like “War Room” though. This movie tackles the challenge that faces parents in raising a child who is respectful and productive in society.

Isaiah is a 19-year-old son to a single mom. He frequently plays video games and he doesn’t have a job. He doesn’t keep his word and doesn’t treat people with respect. His mom tells him that he has to get a job and pay her rent. At the same time, his mom and her friends pray together for the young man. He’s given a golden opportunity by the owner of a great company, which he puts in jeopardy by not taking the opportunity he has been given. Luckily, the owner sees the potential in Isaiah and doesn’t fire him on the spot.

As Isaiah starts to make good decisions and develop a relationship with Jesus Christ, it’s easy to cheer for him.

The soundtrack includes songs from Christian artists such as For King And Country and CeCe Winans.

Personally, I found this movie very moving and motivational. Even though I have a relationship with Jesus, it made me see that I can do more. It takes all of us to be disciples and truly make a difference in the lives of others. This was shown not only through Isaiah’s story, but also as the business owner’s backstory was revealed.

I’d recommend this movie to anyone.
