Music is a powerful thing. That’s something that rising artist Alayna knows to be true. She said she thanks God for music and she wants to give back. “I want to use my time and talents to help people and touch lives and unite people…Music is something that unites us,” she said.
She released “Top Of A Dream” last month, which is a powerful song that comes from a very personal place. It’s the first song that Alayna has written and shared about her experiences overcoming domestic abuse. “I hope it does touch people’s lives and people find healing through it,” she said. Co-written with hit songwriter Kirsti Manna, the song is written in such a way that the lyrics will resonate with nearly everyone, not just people who have had similar experiences.
In the chorus of the song, Alayna sings, “I left it all behind, but I learned on the climb/I can’t ever not believe/‘cuz its so different now, from the top of a dream.” Alayna said the song was one of the first songs she wrote after moving to Nashville. “I was so broken from everything from the abuse and all that,” she said. However, she said she feels better getting it out there. That’s the power of music…I feel as though that’s my passion and my purpose here on this earth,” she said.
Alayna said she wants to be a well-rounded artist and she wants to do different things musically. Her previous single was “Making Babies,” which is a much lighter song. The song has been streamed over 141,000 times on Spotify. She recently released a hilarious music video for the song and it has already been viewed over 10,000 times on YouTube in just a few days.
As a child, Alayna was not allowed to get voice lessons, but she did have piano lessons. She said she wanted to go to music shops and buy sheet music for popular songs, adding she used to play songs by Jewel, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, and Sheryl Crow a lot. She said other artists who have influenced her include Stevie Nicks, Ashley McBryde, Miranda Lambert, Maren Morris, and Taylor Swift.
Alayna released a Christmas EP last year, but she said there are no plans right now to release an album this year. She will be releasing new music, but she plans to release one single at a time.
This year, Alayna also plans to be more consistent in creating new content for her YouTube channel and her Patreon viewers, adding that she wants to increase her numbers on TikTok. She said social media has been huge for her and she enjoys it. She said social media has allowed her to connect with people from all over the world.
