Rising star Allie Colleen will return to Springboro, Ohio on Saturday, September 14 to perform at The Barrel, her second show there this year. “The fan response at the Barrel is one of the best we have received,” Allie said of her previous experience playing there. She also said that The Barrel’s owners Dawn Roskovich and Justin Steel work hard to provide her and her team with everything they need. “They promote the show and bring their people. That is something that is very important to me,” Allie said.
Steel describes Allie Colleen as an extremely talented songwriter and has a connection with her audience that makes them want more. He said he started following her music since he heard her perform when she was 14. “I think the guests we have at The Barrel appreciate great music, it has shown with some of the acts we have brought in,” Steel said. “We will always welcome Allie back to The Barrel.”
I was part of the sold-out audience in April. It was my first time to see Allie Colleen perform and I was impressed by her. I was also impressed that she stayed at The Barrel after her show and interacted with her fans. Allie said it allows her to meet new people and hear their stories, which is something she finds enjoyable. She said she also wants to provide people more than they paid for when they bought their ticket. “These people comes and spend their hard earned money for me, Allie said. “I am going to make sure their money is well spent cause Lord knows they work so hard for it just to give it away.”
Since her April show, Allie Colleen has released her debut single called “Work In Progress,” which she co-wrote with Marcus Hummon and Greg Bieck. “For my first release, I asked myself, what is the first thing I want people to understand about me, right out the of the box what do I say? Well then it was simple, I am a work in progress,” she said, adding that she’s not someone who has figured everything out and she is not perfect.
Allie said she has been shocked by the fan response to the song. The video has received over 100,000 views on YouTube. “Everyone has been requesting it like crazy on secondary radio and it’s been an absolute dream,” she said. According to Allie, the biggest help so far has been the exposure of the Bobby Bones show. “I was so honored to be invited on and pray one day he has be back. The exposure was so helpful but also just very sweet people to work with,” Allie said.
The second single is called “Along The Way” and will be released on Sept. 27. Allie said she can’t wait to share the new song with the world. “You’re gonna want to throw on your favorite sweater, jump in your car, roll the windows down, crank the heat up to 10 (hopefully lets be honest it will probably still be 80’s) and drive,” she said.
Another song that Allie said means the “absolute world” to her is called “Best Friend,” which she says is about her best relationship and by far worst relationship. I am hoping that she performs this song as part of her show on Saturday.
The opening act for Allie Colleen on Saturday will be Miranda Hurley, who is a local performer from Hamilton, Ohio. Hurley also opened for Tyler Reese Tritt in August. I was extremely impressed with Hurley when she opened for Tritt and I am looking forward to seeing her again.
Hurley said Tritt looked like a pro on stage and she was inspiring. She said she took some notes on how to improve her own stage presence. She is excited to take The Barrel stage on Saturday to open for Allie Colleen. “I was overwhelmed how welcoming and encouraging The Barrel crowd was,” she said. The audience created a great atmosphere and I’m very excited to play there again,” she said.
Local country duo 9Eight Central will perform after Allie Colleen plays a 90-minute set. They have played following the performances of both Allie Colleen and Tyler Reese Tritt earlier this year. I have a watched this talented country duo many times and they are always enjoy the show.
Mike Pettigrew, who is half of 9Eight Central with Nicholas Winters, said they realized in talking with Allie before the show that she interacts with people like she has known them for her entire life. “She gives you her full attention in conversation and when interacting with those in attendance, she makes sure that everyone has that same experience,” Pettigrew said.
In addition, Pettigrew said they have seen many live entertainers, but not many can grab your attention like Allie can. “It is truly an honor to be able to share the stage with such an amazing person,” he said. “We want to thank her for trusting in us to provide entertainment for her fans and look forward to continuing that support as she moves forward in her career.”
