Billie Jo Jones Releases “I’ll Be Home For Christmas”

Billie Jo Jones released her version of her favorite Christmas song, “I’ll Be Home For Christmas,” was released on Nov. 22.  The song was recorded by Kent Wells and released on Get Joe Records.  

Jones said the song is one of her favorites, but it was also a favorite of her grandparents, who raised her.  “There’s talks of me doing a whole Christmas album,” she said.

She said she was inspired by her grandparents , who are now 90 and 86 years old.   She said she could sing since she could talk and started singing in church at age nine.   Jones loves to perform and started playing in bars at age 15.  

Jones said she’s been doing music full-time for the last three years.  Even when she wasn’t doing full times, she said she did shows here and there.  She had been performing for a while before she started writing and co-writing songs.   “I didn’t really start writing until I was probably 24 or 25,” she said.   

There are certain artist with which she’d love to collaborate one day.   She said she’d love to do a duet with Ella Langley and she’s also a big fan of Zach Top.  

Jones did about 145 shows this year.   She’s been playing a lot of shows in Texas this year, but she may do some international shows next year. 

Currently, she’s working on a new album, which should be out for summer.  She said the first album is going to be really hard to beat.   Her single before “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” was “Whose Tequila Have You Been Drinking,” which has over 179,000 plays on Spotify.  Another song on the album, “Right Now Kinda Girl,” achieved over 310,000 plays on Spotify.  

Jones said one of her biggest goals is for her grandparents to see her play on the Grand Ole Opry.  

She said she’s recently been nominated for six awards at the Texas Regional Awards Show.
