How can people find your music? www.kcjohns.rocks
What is your current single and/or album? Rock For Christmas
Do you prefer artificial Christmas trees or real trees? Growing up, my family always got a real Christmas tree, but the older I got, the easier it’s been to have an artificial tree. I do miss the smell of a beautiful real Christmas tree every year though!!
When do you decorate your Christmas tree? I usually put my Christmas tree up after Thanksgiving. It still doesn’t seem long enough to only have the tree up for one month!
What is your favorite Christmas song? What makes it your favorite? My favorite Christmas song of all time is Please Come Home For Christmas, written by Charles Mose Brown & Gene Redd. Charles Mose Brown sang tons of blues music. I was born in Memphis and raised on the Mississippi line in the small town of Hernando. I grew up on the Beale street scene and this song always resonated with me. The soulful-ness of this song and the way it’s written is incredibly pleasing to the ear.
What is your go-to holiday drink? Last year, I was given the opportunity to partner with Cali Distillery to create my own whiskey blend! After months of trying flavors and smoky whiskey, I chose a mesquite, smoky blend, called, Thunder. (Named after my latest record.) I think it goes perfect in a holiday old fashioned! Add some bourbon cherries and an orange slice and you’ve got the perfect holiday drink in my opinion!
What is your favorite Christmas present that you have ever received? When I was ten, my grandma got me a four wheeler. I grew up on a 25 acre farm of horses & chickens. We had a ton of trails, so I thought this was the best present ever!!
What were your Christmas traditions when you were younger? My mom, sister and I always made homemade ornaments when I was younger. Such a fun tradition!
How have your Christmas celebrations changed since becoming an adult? I would say they’ve changed due to not being able to see my family as much! I used to sing for Carnival Cruise Lines and sometimes the contracts would run through Christmas. It always felt so weird not spending the holidays with my family. Being on the road is sometimes tough not getting to see them, but I have the most supporting family and I’m so grateful for that!
What is your favorite Christmas memory? Making ornaments with my mom & sister and Christmas cooking!
How do you spend the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day? Honestly being on the road all year can be a lot, so I usually spend this time resting and seeing my parents and grandma while I can.
How do you spend New Year’s Eve? The last couple years, the band and I have booked a show to play. New Years night is one of my favorite nights of the year to play music!
What do you typically eat on New Year’s Day? We have a tradition of ham, turnip greens, black eyed peas & mashed potatoes!
Do you have a New Year’s Resolution for 2025? My resolution is hopefully to meet a ton of more beautiful humans and hope to have super busy touring year! Let’s go 2025 – Hope to see ya’ll on the road!! 🙂
