CMA Fest: Thomas Rhett

Thomas Rhett recently released his “Center Point Road” album. Last month, Rhett announced he would offer “The Center Road Experience” during CMA Music Fest on Saturday, June 8 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.

Since the album is out, I had already heard several songs from the album. I really like the songs I have heard so far. I was looking forward to hear stripped-down, acoustic versions that I can’t hear by just listening to the album. There are a few duets on “Center Point Road,” so I hoped the show might have some special guests.

The event started with a video of Rhett talking about the album, as well as interviews from some of the collaborators on the album.

Rhett took the stage wearing one a Rhett Akins t-shirt and performed “Look What God Gave Her,” which was one the first single. He followed it up with “Remember You Young,” which is one of my favorite tracks I have heard from the album.

With the third song, Rhett brought up his first special guest. He performed “Beer Can’t Fix” with Jon Pardi.

Rhett told the audience about his first truck, which was on the concourse for fans to see. He played a cover of Matchbox 20 and played part of “Creepin’” by Eric Church before playing a song called “That Old Truck” from his new album.

He brought out his Akins to perform “That Ain’t My Truck,” a hit Akins had in the 90s. Rhett said Akins had written over 30 number one songs. Pardi came out and they performed “Dirt On My Boots,” a song co-written by Akins that Pardi took to the top of the charts.

Rhett played past hits “Star Of The Show” and “Die A Happy Man” before resuming playing songs from the new album. During “Die A Happy Man,” a man in the front row proposed to his girl.

Rhett played three more songs from “Center Point Road” before ending the show.
