There are new songs released every day, but a lot of songs are released at midnight Eastern Standard Time on Fridays. That’s Thursday at 11 p.m. in Nashville, and that Thursday this week was Thanksgiving Day. I don’t know for a fact, but I am guessing that’s why there seemed t be fewer releases than usual this week.
- Smoke Show – Pistol Pearl. I’ve known Pearl Clarkin, half of this duo, for years. During that time, she’s released songs both solo and as part of different duos or groups. This one feels special. I am thrilled to see so many people loving this song and using it in social media posts. It’s a great song.
- Paint It, Black – Bishop Briggs. This is a cover of Rolling Stones’ classic song.
- Honest Mistake – Swon Brothers. I’ve liked the Swon Brothers since they were on The Voice. I think this is one of the best songs they have released.
- AT Christmas – Sofia Talvik. Sofia has had a tradition of writing original Christmas songs every year and many of them, including this one, focus of the Appalachian Trail.
- The Child I Was – Hackensaw Boys. This is a great nostalgic Christmas song.
- He Ain’t My Problem – Runaway June. I have been a fan of Runaway June for many years. Although there members have changes, the wonderful harmonies that I have come to expect from their songs have not. This song, co-written by founding member Jennifer Wayne, is fun and well-written.
- Drive You Anywhere – Ashley Anne. I was initially drawn to this song because of Ashley Anne’s voice. I was impressed by the range of this song and the way she delivered the song. The song is very interesting melodically and complements the lyrics well.
- Love You With The Lights On – Pressley Tennant. I loved this title and immediately wanted to listen. It tells a great story and did not disappoint.
- Never At The Same Time – Sam Grow. I’ve been a fan of Sam’s music for a while. His songs are stories that are so relatable that I feel like I’ve lived almost every one at some point in my life. This is no exception. I love this song about a couple who can’t be on the same page. They both want to be together and put in effort to make the relationship work. The problem is they don’t both seem to want it at the same time. This is a very powerful song that touched me.
- Say A Prayer – Low Gap. The arrangement of this song is just gorgeous. The lyrics are great and tell a good story, but this is a song I’d even enjoy as an instrumental. I was so impressed by this song that I started looking at their other songs. I want to listen to even more of their stuff. This is a band that I would love to see in concert.
