The Country Outdoors Christmas Show was held at The Listening Room tonight. It featured a great lineup with Drake White, Randy Montana, CJ Solar, Grace Leer and Mo Pitney. The show was performed as a writer’s round, which is the usual show format at The Listening Room. All artists are on the stage at the same time and the each performer takes turns playing in order. There was a socially distanced, in-person audience and the show was live-streamed on Mandolin.
Randy Montana – I don’t think I have ever watched Montana perform. I knew he was a songwriter, but I couldn’t list any of his songs. He performed some recent hits which he had co-written including “I Hope You’re Happy Now,” “Pretty Heart,” “Some Girls,” and “Beer Never Broke My Heart”.
CJ Solar – I have watched Solar play a couple of times. I really like his sound. He played a couple of original Christmas, both of which I really enjoyed. His last song was “Up Down,” which he co-wrote with Brad Clawson and Hardy. The song was recorded by Morgan Wallen.
Drake White – White was the main reason I wanted to see this show, although I was looking forward to more that one performer in this round. I really like White’s voice and his songs. He performed songs like “Making Me Look Good Again,” “Hurt The Healing,” and “Back To Free.” The latter song was co-written by Randy Montana.
Grace Leer – I have become a fan of Leer this year. She was impressive when she appeared on American Idol. I saw her recently when she played as part of a livestreamed show from the Ryman Auditorium. Leer has an amazing voice and some great original songs. Leer’s version of “Santa Baby” was great. I expect big things from her in the future.
Mo Pitney – Pitney was late to show and only performed a couple of songs. He did a good show. I haven’t seen him in concert and I would like to see him do a show.
