Since the news broke Sunday morning that Scooter Braun of Ithica Holdings had acquired Big Machine Label Group, there has been a case of mistaken identity. Scooter Brown of the Scooter Brown Band has been receiving has reportedly been receiving a lot of hate mail from Taylor Swift fan because people are confusing him with Braun.
Swift is one of many artists who were impacted by the acquisition. However, Swift has been very vocal since the news broke calling it the “worst case scenario” because the masters from her first six albums were part of the acquisition.
Brown, however, has nothing to do with the Braun acquiring Big Machine. The Scooter Brown Band are set to make their Grand Ole Opry debut on July 30. He recently was Travis Tritt’s team on Real Country, a music competition show which aired on the USA Network. While on the show, he performed the Marshall Tucker Band’s hit “Can’t You See,” among others.
The Scooter Brown Band has had over one million streams on Spotify and was named one of “10 Artists You Need To Know” by Rolling Stone. The title track of the band’s 2017 album was “American Son,” a song which featured Charlie Daniels, reached number 19 on the iTunes Country chart. The song was also featured in Spotify’s “Country Rocks,” “Southern Rock 101,” and “Texas Music Now” playlists.
Brown plays 150 dates a year headlining and opening for artists such as the Charlie Daniels Band, Travis Tritt, Marshall Tucker Band and Whiskey Myers.
Lead singer Scott Brown served two tours overseas including one tour of combat as a United States Marine. He served four years and three months. He is also a founding member and a board member for Base Camp 40, an organization that provides brotherhood and support to veterans. Brown was a featured halftime performer at the 2017 Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl and he performed a song co-written with Chris Kyle.
