The Dayton Bands Spread Love Event will be held at Oregon Express, located at 336 E. Fifth Street in Dayton, between 6 p.m. and 1 a.m. on September 28. The proceeds will be donated to the Oregon District Tragedy Fund with the Dayton Foundation. There will be a $5 cover charge and there will also be a 50/50 raffle and a silent auction. Performers include Heath Bowling and Tesa Marie, Donnie Rose, The Termites and Short of Stable. The event will be hosted by Gary Schneider.
Heath Bowling and Tesa Marie will be performing together in one of what they call Beauty and The Beast shows. They will be the only country performers in the benefit and they will be the second act to perform.
I was able to see one of Beauty and the Beast shows last night. Tesa Marie was scheduled to play a two-hour set at J.D. Legends by herself, but Bowling volunteered to join her because she wasn’t feeling well. They both sat on a stool on stage during the show. She would play a song and then he would play a song.
Tesa Marie played a variety of songs from artists such as Miranda Lambert and Maren Morris. She did a really good job on “When You Say Nothing At All,” which was recorded by both Keith Whitley and Allison Krauss. She also did a very good job on “When It Rains, It Pours” and “Beer Never Broke My Heart,” both of which were recorded by Luke Combs.
Tesa Marie played one of her original songs, which she said was inspired about growing up on a farm. It was a well-written song and I look forward to when it’s recorded. The song helps introduce fans to Tesa Marie. In addition, it paint a picture of a simpler time. I’m looking forward to hearing more of her originals.
While Tesa Marie sang mostly country songs, Bowling played both rock and country songs. He played country songs from artists like Chris Stapleton, Hank WIlliams Jr., and Tyler Childers. I really like Bowling’s version of “Whiskey and You,” a song recorded by both Stapleton Tim McGraw. Bowling also played a couple of his original songs, which were both very good. At the end of the show, he played George Jones’ “A Good Year For The Roses and “He Stopped Loving Her Today” in honor of his late grandmother. Together, Tesa Marie and Bowling sang a wide range of songs during the show.
Another perk of seeing Tesa Marie and Bowling perform again is seeing their banter in between songs. Both have great personalities and they interact well. It’s also clear that they have a lot of respect for each other. The local live music community are great about working together and helping each other out. Thomas Beverly, another wonderful local artist, was there and he played a couple of his original songs.
