Live Music Spotlight: Jesse Fuson and Jacob William

Who says Wednesdays can’t be fun? I had the opportunity to see Jesse Fuson and Jacob William perform at The Barrel in Springboro, Ohio last night. These two performers (who happen to be cousins) are both incredible vocalists even though they play very different styles of music. Despite the differences in music, there were a lot of similarities. It was clear that they both loved to perform and have great personalities. They both performed two sets of music during the evening.

Jacob William took the stage first. He has a traditional country voice and picks great songs. He performed some classics from artists like Waylon Jennings and Hank Williams, Jr. He also played some songs from recent artists such as Chris Stapleton, Eric Church, Luke Combs and Tyler Childers.

I found that I loved practically every song that Jacob William played. In fact, I don’t think I could have enjoyed his songs any more even if I had made out a set list for him myself. I wasn’t the only one who felt that way. People were singing along and having fun. There were even a couple people dancing for a while.

Jesse Fuson was another great artist who performed rock and alternative music from artists like Puddle of Mudd. He didn’t play a single country song, but that was fine. The songs he played were great songs and genre didn’t matter. It was my first time watching Fuson perform live and I was impressed by his vocal range. I have stories of singers in Nashville who served me at honky tonks and then went on to sign a record deal. It wouldn’t surprise me if one day I am telling a similar story about Fuson, who works at The Barrel.
