I was able to see Ward Davis perform last night as the opening act for Cody Jinks third concert at JD Legends in Franklin, Ohio.
I became familiar with Davis’ music probably about a year or two ago. I immediately like his sound. It didn’t take me long to realize that he was also an incredible songwriter and his music was something special. I am a fan of traditional country voices and Davis is definitely one of the artists who are keeping that sound alive.
One of my favorite of Davis’ songs is “15 Years In A 10 Year Town,” which is a realistic look at the music business from the point of view of an aspiring artist. I was happy to get to see him perform the song live, along with some of his other original songs.
Davis ended his set with a great cover of “Stranger In My House,” which was a hit for Ronnie Milsap.
Davis opens some of Jinks’ concerts. Davis joined Jinks onstage to perform “I’m Not The Devil” with Jinks. Davis co-wrote the song with Jinks.
