I am a dog person. I can see a dog and it will stop me in my tracks. I love it when a big star does something for animals like Miranda Lambert did when she started MuttNation. I see them at CMA Music Festival finding forever homes for some great dogs in need of a good home.
I have no clue how much of an impact they have had on dogs and the people who adopt them. I suspect they have united thousands of families with a furry companion.
It’s hard to believe that it’s been 10 years since MuttNation was founded. Now, Lambert and her mother, Bev Lambert, have introduced a new program called SPA Days. In this case, SPA is an acronym for Shelter Pet Adoption. The purpose of the program is to help animal rescues increase their adoption numbers.
The program was initially started with five shelters: FurKids of Atlanta (GA), SCRAPS (WA), APA Adoption Center of Missouri (MO), Corridor Rescue (TX), and South Suburban Humane Society of Chicago (IL). MuttNation provided each of those rescues with collars for their adoptable dogs, a MuttNation banner customized with their shelter’s name, and a check for $1,000 to help cover the costs of their event. The rescues also received a large amount of promotion through MuttNation’s social media channels.
Since the SPA Days program started, more than 130 animals found forever homes and each shelter claimed their highest single-day adoption rate. All five of the selected SPA Days shelters had previously joined forces with Lambert’s Fill the Little Red Wagon initiative. At each of Lambert’s concerts, fans are invited to bring pet food, treats, and supplies to benefit a pre-selected local shelter. One of the donors are selected to receive two meet and greet passes.
“Fill the Little Red Wagon is one way I can help shelters while I’m on the road, giving them visibility and helping them stock up on food and supplies – and it’s great to have a chance to connect more closely with some of my mutt-loving fans,” Lambert said in a statement.
