Nashville’s Mac Leaphart Releases 3rd Single from Forthcoming “Motel Breakfast”

Nashville, TN – Nashville-based Americana artist Mac Leaphart continues to build anticipation for his forthcoming album Motel Breakfast with the release of “Rosey,” available today on all major streaming platforms. This marks the third single from Leaphart’s highly anticipated new record, following the successful debuts of “Rock & Roll Hey” and “Pony, MT.”

“Rosey” showcases Leaphart’s signature storytelling prowess and his ability to craft songs that resonate deeply with listeners. The single offers another glimpse into the sonic landscape of Motel Breakfast, an album that promises to be an upbeat honky-tonk rock & roll journey.

Mac Leaphart shares the unique inspiration behind “Rosey”: “I started writing this one at the height of the pandemic when my son wasn’t in school. I was just sort of following him around the house with my guitar. The melody came first, and I decided to literally write a song about a rose that was making this person happy. Obviously, I think most people will hear it and think Rosey is a woman, but it’s actually about a flower.”

Produced by Brad Jones at Alex the Great Studios in Nashville, “Rosey” features an all-star lineup of musicians. Mac Leaphart leads with vocals, acoustic guitar, and electric guitar, joined by Al Backstrom on rhythm electric guitar. The track is enriched by Fats Kaplin’s fiddle work and Matt Menefee’s dobro playing. Brad Jones contributes on bass, while Glen Martian provides background vocals, and Logan Todd keeps the beat on drums. This collaborative effort results in a rich, textured sound that perfectly complements Leaphart’s songwriting.

The track, co-written with Ryan Sorestad, exemplifies Leaphart’s goal for the new album: “I’m bringing a good-time element, but not skimping on craft, heart, or wit.”

Motel Breakfast, set to release on September 13, 2024, represents a new chapter in Leaphart’s songwriting journey. Following his 2021 album Music City Joke, which cracked the Top 40 on the Americana charts, Leaphart aimed to create an album built for the stage. “It came from me wanting to fill the holes in my setlist,” Leaphart explains. “It came from me wanting to write songs that were built for the stage.”

Inspired by the greasy cool of the Rolling Stones, the primordial rock & roll of Chuck Berry, and the storytelling of Billy Joe Shaver, Motel Breakfast turns a new page for an artist who’s been running the roads for 15 years. The album’s sound is described as “loose and fun,” with Leaphart aiming for a laid-back vibe reminiscent of Jerry Jeff Walker’s recordings.

Leaphart’s journey to Motel Breakfast involved multiple recording sessions and a period of intense writing. “I took a few months off, didn’t play any shows, and I just wrote like it was my job,” he reveals. This dedication has resulted in an album that promises to fill what Leaphart sees as a hole in Americana music – “upbeat and intelligent songwriting, à la Jerry Jeff Walker, Dr. Hook & Doug Sahm.”

“Rosey” is available now on all major streaming platforms. Music critics and playlist curators are encouraged to consider this track for coverage and inclusion, particularly those looking for fresh, danceable Americana that doesn’t sacrifice lyrical depth.
