Terry McBride, who released his first solo album Angels and Rebels in September, performed a writer’s round on Thursday with Marv Green, Brice Long and Luke Laird at the Bluebird Cafe. Green, Long and Laird are three songwriters who co-wrote songs on the McBride’s album.
The number of people who can attend in-person shows are still limited in Tennessee because of the pandemic. The event was livestreamed on the Bluebird’s Cafe’s YouTube page. Viewers were given the option to donate money to the Bluebird Cafe through Venmo or PayPal. The money raised went to support the Bluebird Cafe while they are closed.
Some new songs were performed during the show, but the four men played a lot of hit songs that have been made popular by artists such as George Strait, Gary Allan and Eric Church. Laird told the story of writing “Drink In My Hand” with Church. He said Church was on tour and he had come off the stage when they wrote the song. Church was still wearing his in-ears. Laird said Church’s wife, Katherine was in the tour bus and was typing down the lyrics of the song. Laird said they probably wrote 50 verses to the song.
