What is your current single and/or album? Big Colored Lights (EP).
What was a typical Thanksgiving meal look like for your family? My mom is a great cook and she always went all out on TG. Besides the usual, her specialties were cranberry mousse and bear bread, which is semi-sweet bread in the shape of a bear.
What were your Thanksgiving traditions when you were younger? We had a tradition of signing our names on a specific tablecloth, which would only be brought out on TG. My dad would draw a scroll on the cloth and label it with the year, and whoever happened to be there that year would sign.
How has your Thanksgiving celebration changed since you have became an adult? Lately, it is much quieter with usually just my husband, myself, and our two cats. We have a good time though! We slow-cook a big drumstick in the crockpot and fix up all the sides. I usually make a pie.
What is your favorite Thanksgiving Day memory? Hmm. There was one year when I was very young when my grandfather, my dad’s dad, who like my mom was also a very good cook, challenged her to a turkey-off. They both presented their turkeys on TG, and the rest of the family voted on whose was better. I won’t say who won. It’s still a little upsetting for my mom.
What are you most thankful for this year? What can I say, friends and family. The older I get, the more that rings true.
