What was a typical Thanksgiving meal look like for your family? We have the “usual,” turkey, ham and all the fixin’s, but the real treat is my mom’s “homemade” mac and cheese. Well, she says it’s “homemade,” we’ve NEVER seen her make it. We’re pretty sure it’s Stouffer’s!

What were your Thanksgiving traditions when you were younger? We all go around the table to share our individual thanks and what we are grateful for. As a tradition, we make gingerbread houses together and play some football. I always dominate!

How has your Thanksgiving celebration and traditions changed since becoming an adult? Well, this year, I’m going to take on some cooking. I’ll make the stuffing and my homemade mac and cheese (aka Stouffer’s—wink wink).

How will COVID-19 impact your Thanksgiving celebration this year? I think everyone wishes to be safe and sensitive to older family members, as do we. So, this year, only our close family members will gather. But, we will be meeting my Grandmom in the Denny’s parking lot to have take-out breakfast together.

What is your favorite Thanksgiving Day memory? When I was a child, my family stayed at the Disney Resort–Fort Wilderness; we stayed in the log cabins. My grandparents dressed up as Indians and Pilgrims and Grandmom sang “Oh, What A Beautiful Morning.” That’s a beautiful Thanksgiving memory.

What are you most thankful for this year? I think I’m most thankful for “time.” This year has given me time for self-growth, reflection, healing, making new friendships and rejuvenating old. It’s also been a year to reinvent myself, and “time” has allowed me this.
