Americanafest: Q & A With Oliver Hazard

Americanafest is an annual event organized by the Americana Music Association and held in Nashville, Tennessee. Americanafest 2019 will be held between Sept. 10 and Sept. 15 with the Americana Honors and Awards Show taking place at the Ryman Auditorium on Sept. 11. The five-day event will feature panels and performances at several venues in Nashville. Oliver Hazard is one of about 300 artists that are scheduled to perform during this year’s Americanafest. The following questions were answered by Mike Belazis of Oliver Hazard.

When did you start singing? We started singing harmonies together in December 2016. 

How would you describe your music? Our music is vocally drive folk-pop. 

Who are your musical influences? We all really enjoy CSNY.

What is your favorite concert you have attended? What made it memorable? We all watched Bon Iver play at Bonnaroo last year and that was cool. 

What is your favorite place to perform? What do you like about it? We host our own music festival every year in our hometown of Waterville Ohio, right in the middle of the street. That’s our favorite place to play. 

Other than artists, who has been influential in your decision to become a singer?

What was the first song you wrote? The first song we wrote was “Caesar Knows” .

What is your favorite original song? What was the inspiration behind it? We just released a song called “Grenadine” and we really love that one. 

What does it mean to you to be selected to play Americanafest? We are super excited to be in Nashville this week. It’s always great to meet folks who are working towards the same goal in the same genre.
