When did you start singing? The three of us started singing together about 6 years ago. We all moved here to do our own solo careers, but, one day, when the three of us got together to write on Kelly’s front porch, we started singing together. When we heard how our voices blended together, we got really excited and just knew we wanted to keep doing it. – Parker
How would you describe your music? It is harmony driven country music based in our roots on the front porch – Dan
Who are your musical influences? We love a lot of different types of music, but all three of us grew up on country music, so that will always be our greatest musical love. We are especially influenced by the Eagles, Alabama, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, and the Dixie Chicks. We can’t get enough of their harmonies! -Kelly
What is your favorite concert you have attended? In high school I saw George Strait. He’s unbelievable. And a young new girl named Miranda Lambert was opening for him. I had never heard of her at the time, but now looking back it’s pretty cool I got to see that combo! -Parker
What made it memorable? I think it was just that. That Miranda was so new and George was so established. It was just cool to see the two different generations. -Parker
What is your favorite place to perform? Well we did just get back from a month long music festival in Monaco. So opening for some of our heroes while looking out at the Mediterranean was not a bad gig! Other than that, we love playing in intimate theater settings. It gives us a great chance to connect to an audience. -Dan
Other than artists, who has been influential in your decision to become a singer? It sounds cliché, but my parents have been very intentional and encouraging to me. I feel like I’ve been playing music and wanted to do this since I can remember. They have been nothing but encouraging on this journey. -Dan
What was the first song you wrote? The first songwe wrote together as a band was actually one of our first singles, called “Life Is Better on a River.” Dan and I got together one day to write, and this song came out. We were both in serious relationships (Dan with his wife Hannah, and me with Kelly), and so it was a song all about love and life. Little did we know that this song would really help in shaping our sound, and it was one of the first songs we ever recorded in the studio together! So there’s a lot of special feelings attached to that song. -Parker
What is your favorite original song? What was the inspiration behind it? I love one that we wrote called “Gold.” We wrote it early on in our career with our friend Joseph Patton. The hook is “nobody said it was easy making gold.” Parenthood, chasing a dream, graduating college, making a marriage work – none of those things come easy, but all of that hard work builds something really beautiful and special! I’ve always found this song super encouraging because it reminds me that most things worth having usually take a lot of effort and sacrifice. And that’s okay, because “nobody said it was easy making gold.” That’s definitely something we’ve come to appreciate on our own musical journey! -Kelly
Anything else you would like to add? We thought it might be fun to tell you how we got our name, MAMADEAR! We have a family friend who has lived in Nashville her whole life, and she is the picture of hospitality. She is the kind of woman who will invite you in for a big southern supper, or tell you stories on the porch over a glass of cold iced tea. She makes everyone feel welcome and at home, and everyone who knows her calls her MamaDear. We named our band after her because we want our music to embody that feeling of “everyone’s welcome.” We want to get to know people and tell their stories, as well as share our own. We want our music to be something that brings people together and makes them feel at home. -Kelly
Where can people hear your music? Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music, Amazon, Youtube…All of it! We try and be everywhere! 😉 You can also always check it out on our website, MAMADEAR.COM. -Parker
