Review: Lee Brice – Hey World

I have liked Lee Brice’s music for years. He puts on a very good concert. I was glad to hear this new album. There’s a lot of energy on it. Even though several of the songs are up-tempo, the album also contains some powerful messages. There are a lot of positive messages on this Hey World.

Here is my thoughts on each track:

Atta Boy: This a great way to start the album. It is a up-tempo song with a positive message. Sometimes we don’t get an atta boy for the things we do, but they do go unnoticed. Little things make a big difference.

One Of Them Girls: This song was released as a single. It is another up-tempo song with a positive message. I love to watch Lee in concert and I think that this is the kind of songs his fans (like me) have come to expect. I love the melody of this one too.

More Beer: I love a good drinking song and I don’t think there can be too many of them. Whether I am at a live show or listening to a CD at home, drinking songs put me in a good mood. This one has a chorus likely to cause a sing-a-long and stay stuck in your head.

Memory I Don’t Mess With: I love how these lyrics are so descriptive. They do a good job of painting a picture and transport you to the moment. There’s a lot of emotion here and it will probably cause listeners to remember things from their past. Good songs do that.

Save The Roses: This is such a powerful song. It is a reminder to live your life without regrets and take advantage of every moment. Also, it made me think about how those who have passed would truly want to be remembered.

Good Ol’ Boys: This song is more proof that Lee knows his fans well. I can relate to this one. This is another song that would be great live.

Don’t Need No Reason: Lee is good at the party songs, but he’s also good at these love songs. I think there will be a lot of men dedicating this one to their significant others.

Do Not Disturb: This song has a different sound and feel than the songs I have heard so far on this album. This is a sexy love song.

Soul: This is an up-tempo love song. Although this is considered a love song, it’s a song that doesn’t sound like something that has been done a lot.

Sons and Daughters: This is another song with a powerful message. It’s sometimes easy to forget that everyone we interact with is someone’s son or daughter. It’s a reminder to be nice and treat others with respect.

Country Knows: This is one reason I love country music so much. Country music is relatable. Country music has comforted me. It has helped me get through bad times. I am so glad that there’s a song about that.

Lies: This song is so honest. A lot of people will relate to this one.

If You: “Lies” was a serious song, but this song lightens the mood quickly. It is one of the most up-tempo songs on this project. It’s one that will probably put people in a good mood. I predict this will soon become a crowd favorite when concerts return.

I Hope You’re Happy Now: I loved this song as soon as I heard it. It is so well written. It captures that feeling of being heartbroken following a breakup, but still wanting your ex to be happy. One reason I love it is the title line can be taken two ways.

Hey World: This is an incredible track. It showcases Lee’s voice. It’s a great way to end the album. It leaves the listener with a positive message. It’s particularly relevant in today’s world. Lee, please release this as a single. This needs to be on the radio.
